Project Three: Prevention of
malnutrition amongst refugees
and host population in Lamwo
District, Northern Uganda

A three-year project funded by BMZ through Johanniter International Assistance with the overall project goal to contribute to the prevention of malnutrition and improvement of the hygiene status of vulnerable persons in the refugee settlement of Palabek and 8 surrounding communities in Lamwo district, Uganda. It has a strategic objective of improved knowledge on Infant and Young Child Feeding and WASH Practices among the refugee of Palabek settlement and 8 surrounding communities in Lamwo district. The project employed Positive Deviance hearth and care group models in the refugee settlement and the surrounding communities respectively. The project makes a direct contribution to both the Refugee Response Plan for Uganda 2019 – 2020 and to Sustainable Development Goal 2 – No Hunger and Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation. 

PACHEDO recruited and oriented a team of 14 competent staff comprised of a Nutritionist (Project Coordinator, Nutrition Officers, Nutrition Assistants, WASH Officers, WASH Assistants and support staff. They were oriented on the BMZ-JUH project and PACHEDO operations and Policies and other topics discussed included: Activity Log-frame presentation, Procurement process and procedures, Reporting and project implementation checklist/tools, Contractual responsibilities and obligations and Work plan development for each sector.
